Gold Hoop Earrings in South Africa
A well-chosen pair of gold hoop earrings is one of the most versatile things you can own. Aria's Jewellery Palace stocks genuine hallmarked gold hoops in yellow, white and rose gold, across a full range of sizes from 10mm to 45mm in diameter. All our hoops are either 9ct or 18ct gold, hallmarked and genuine. We do not sell gold-plated hoops in our gold range.
Hoop earrings frame the face, add movement and catch light in a way most other earring styles do not. They work with casual outfits, office looks and formal occasions. A yellow gold hoop in particular ages well and has remained consistently popular across every decade.
Sizes We Carry
Small hoops range from 10mm to 20mm. They sit close to the earlobe and suit everyday wear, minimalist styles and second piercings. Medium hoops from 25mm to 35mm are the most versatile option, comfortable in a boardroom and at a braai. Large hoops from 40mm upward are statement pieces. They draw attention, work with a bold outfit and photograph well.
Tube thickness matters alongside diameter. A thin tube reads as delicate. A thicker tube adds visual weight and more gold per gram. We list both measurements on every hoop product so you know what you are buying.
9ct vs 18ct Hoops
For hoops you plan to wear every day, 9ct is the better choice. It is harder than 18ct gold, holds its shape under regular wear and costs less per gram, so you can buy a larger hoop for the same budget. Visit our 9ct gold earrings South Africa page for all 9ct hoop options. If you want a richer colour for occasion wear, 18ct is worth the premium.
Diamond-Cut vs Plain Hoops
Plain hoops have a smooth, polished surface. Diamond-cut hoops have facets carved into the tube that reflect light at multiple angles, making the hoop appear to sparkle without any gemstones. Diamond-cut hoops cost a little more and work particularly well for formal occasions or photographs.
Caring for Your Hoops
Store hoops flat or hanging, not coiled together. Clean monthly with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, using a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and dry completely before storing. Remove your hoops before swimming in chlorinated water. If the click-lock closure starts to loosen, contact us and we will advise you. Do not force a worn closure. If you also own silver earrings, store each metal in a separate pouch to prevent scratching. See the full gold earrings South Africa guide for more care information.
