9ct gold bangle prices, delivered to Durban
Most jewellers in Durban will not put a gold bangle price on a page. You have to phone, or fill in a form, or drive to a shop. Here is what ours cost, in full, before you speak to anybody.
| Width | Description | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 2mm | The slimmest we make. Sits close to the wrist and stacks well with two or three others. The width most people start with. | R11,950 |
| 3mm | Still fine, but with visible weight to it. Reads as a single considered piece rather than something to layer. | R13,550 |
| 4mm | Our most requested width. Substantial enough to wear alone and to notice on the wrist, without feeling heavy through the day. | R15,850 |
| 6mm | A statement width. The one people buy for a milestone, a twenty-first, or a wedding. | R18,950 |
| 8mm | The heaviest in the range. Considerable presence, and considerable gold in it, which is what you are paying for. | R22,750 |
All prices are for a single bangle in solid 9ct yellow gold at 60mm internal diameter, the standard size. White and rose gold are available at the same widths. Anything outside 2mm to 8mm, or any diameter other than 60mm, is made to measure and quoted individually. Delivery to Durban is by insured courier.

Buying a gold bangle in Durban without leaving the house
Durban has a long and serious relationship with gold. Bangles here are not an impulse buy. They mark births, twenty-firsts, engagements, weddings and anniversaries, and they get handed down. People know what they are looking at, and they know when something is light for its width.
That is the market we make for. Solid gold, hallmarked, made in the width you actually asked for rather than the width the shop happened to have in the case.
Every bangle is handmade after you order it and couriered to your Durban address, insured and tracked, signed for on arrival. Nothing ships from stock, so nothing has been sitting under a display light for eighteen months.
The stamp for 9ct gold, 37.5 percent pure. It is on every bangle we make, and it is how you know it is real.
Our standard internal diameter, which fits most adult wrists. Any other size is made to measure.
Manufacturing time before dispatch. Courier to Durban follows on top of that.
2mm solid 9ct gold, delivered. Published openly, with no quote request required.
Delivery across Durban and KwaZulu-Natal
We courier to every Durban address, insured for the full value and tracked from our workshop to your door. It needs a signature, so it will not be left at a gate or with a neighbour.
That covers the Berea, Morningside, Musgrave, Glenwood and the city centre, out through Westville, Pinetown, Kloof and Hillcrest, and up the coast to Umhlanga, La Lucia, Umdloti and Ballito. Further afield we deliver to Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay, Amanzimtoti and Margate on the same terms.
Timing
Ten to fourteen working days to make the bangle, then one to three days on the courier depending on where in KZN you are. Umhlanga and central Durban are usually next day from dispatch. If you are buying for a specific date, tell us before you pay and we will confirm in writing whether we can make it.
If you would rather talk first
Most of our Durban customers do the whole thing over WhatsApp. You tell us the width, we confirm the price and the timing, and you pay online when you are ready. No appointment, no drive to a shopping centre, no sales floor.
Gold care on the KZN coast
This is worth saying on a Durban page specifically, because the climate here is harder on jewellery than it is inland.
Gold itself does not tarnish or corrode. Solid 9ct will not go green on you and it will not react to salt air. What does happen on the coast is that humidity and salt combine with sunscreen, sweat and hand cream to leave a film on the surface that dulls the shine. It builds up slowly enough that most people do not notice until they compare it against a new piece.
What to do about it
Rinse in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth after a beach day or a swim. That is genuinely most of it. Once every few months, a few minutes in warm water with a drop of dish soap and a soft brush will clear anything the cloth misses.
White gold in Durban
If you are choosing white gold, know that it is rhodium plated over a white alloy, and coastal humidity wears that plating faster than a dry inland climate does. Expect to have it re-plated every two to three years in Durban rather than every four or five. Yellow and rose gold need nothing beyond the occasional clean.
Why 9ct rather than 18ct
9ct gold is 37.5 percent pure gold, alloyed with harder metals. 18ct is 75 percent. The higher number sounds better, and for a ring worn on a hand it often is, because the colour is richer.
For a bangle, 9ct is usually the better choice, and not only on price. A bangle takes more knocks than almost any other piece of jewellery. It catches on desks, car doors, kitchen counters, handbag straps. The alloy in 9ct makes it harder and more resistant to that daily wear than 18ct, which is softer and marks more easily.
We do make 18ct bangles. If you want one, tell us the width and we will quote it. Expect roughly double, because there is roughly double the gold in it.
Yellow, white or rose
All three at the same price, in every width. Yellow is the traditional choice and the one most South African buyers pick. White gold is rhodium plated over a white alloy and will need re-plating every few years to stay bright. Rose gold has copper in the mix, which gives it the warm tone and also makes it slightly harder than yellow.
Getting the diameter right
A bangle is not a ring. It does not resize, and it has to pass over the widest part of the hand before it can sit on the wrist. This is the one thing worth getting right before you order, because it is the one thing we cannot fix afterwards.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Measure | Tuck your thumb into your palm as if you are putting a bangle on. Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of that hand, across the knuckles, and note the measurement in millimetres. |
| Convert | Divide that number by 3.14. That gives you the internal diameter you need. A hand measuring roughly 188mm around needs a 60mm bangle. |
| Check the fit | A bangle should clear the hand with a little effort and then sit loosely on the wrist. If it slides on with no resistance at all it will slide off just as easily. |
| Not sure | Send us the measurement on WhatsApp and we will tell you which diameter to order. If you need something other than 60mm we make it to measure and quote you before we start. |
Buying online against buying in a chain store
People in Durban often price our bangles against the big South African chains. The comparison worth making is not the number on the tag, it is what sits behind it.
Made to order, direct
Your bangle is made after you order it, in the width and diameter you asked for. There is no shop floor, no display stock sitting in a safe, and no rent built into what you pay. Ten to fourteen working days, then courier to your door. Prices published in full on this page.
Retail chain
You buy what is in the case, in the widths they carry, at whatever the store markup is. Often faster, and you can try it on first. Prices are frequently not published online, which is why so many people end up searching for a price list before they visit.
Every width and every price is on this page. You should not have to drive to a shopping centre to find out what a gold bangle costs.
Wearing and caring for a gold bangle
A 2mm or 3mm bangle is made for stacking. Two or three together, matched or mixed in width, reads as deliberate rather than accidental. From 4mm upward it works better on its own, with the wrist otherwise bare.
Bangles sit well alongside gold bracelets if you want movement against the solidity of the bangle, and against fine gold chains and stud earrings for a complete set.
Day to day
Gold is a soft metal and it will pick up fine surface scratches with wear. That is normal, and on a solid bangle it develops into a patina rather than damage. Keep it away from perfume, hand cream and household cleaners, all of which dull the surface over time. Wipe it with a soft cloth after wearing.
Longer term
Store it in a pouch rather than loose in a jewellery box where it can knock against other pieces. Every few years a professional polish will bring it back to the finish it had when it arrived. We can do that for you.
How ordering works
Every bangle is handmade after you order it. Nothing is sitting on a shelf waiting.
Timing
Ten to fourteen working days to manufacture, then courier delivery on top. If you are buying for a birthday or an anniversary, tell us the date before you pay and we will confirm whether we can make it.
Custom sizes
Any width outside 2mm to 8mm, or any diameter other than 60mm, is made to measure. Send us what you need and we quote it before anything starts. There is no charge for the quote.
Paying
Yoco, PayFast, PayJustNow over three interest-free instalments, HappyPay, Float, Payflex, Mobicred, or direct EFT. A gold bangle is a considered purchase and most people split it.
What Durban customers ask
How much is a 9ct gold bangle in Durban?
From R11,950 for a 2mm to R22,750 for an 8mm, in solid 9ct gold at 60mm diameter, delivered to Durban. The full price list by width is at the top of this page. Price is driven almost entirely by how much gold is in the bangle, which is why width matters more than anything else.
How long does delivery to Durban take?
Ten to fourteen working days to handmake the bangle, then one to three days on the courier depending on where in KZN you are. Central Durban and Umhlanga are usually next day from dispatch.
Do you deliver to Umhlanga and Ballito?
Yes, and to Westville, Hillcrest, Kloof, Pinetown, the Berea, La Lucia, Amanzimtoti and out to Pietermaritzburg and Richards Bay. Insured and tracked, signed for on arrival.
Will the coastal air damage a gold bangle?
No. Solid gold does not corrode or tarnish in salt air. What humidity does is leave a film on the surface over time that dulls the shine, and a rinse in warm water after a beach day handles it. White gold is the one exception, since the rhodium plating wears faster on the coast and needs redoing every two to three years.
Do you have a shop in Durban?
No. We are online only, based in Cape Town, and we courier nationwide. That is part of why our prices are what they are, since there is no shop floor built into them.
Are your gold bangles solid or hollow?
Solid, all the way through, in a D-shape or half-round profile. We do not sell hollow bangles. If you are comparing our price to something considerably cheaper, that is usually the difference.
Is it real gold?
Yes. Solid 9ct gold, hallmarked 375, which is the stamp for 37.5 percent pure gold. The hallmark is on every bangle we make.
What widths do you make?
2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm as standard, all at 60mm internal diameter. Anything else is made to measure and quoted individually. Tell us what you want and we will price it.
Which width should I choose?
4mm is our most requested and the safest choice if you are buying for someone else. Go to 2mm or 3mm if she stacks bangles or wears delicate jewellery. Go to 6mm or 8mm if it is a milestone piece meant to be noticed.
How long does it take?
Ten to fourteen working days to make, then courier delivery. Every bangle is handmade to order, so nothing ships from stock.
Can a gold bangle be resized?
No. Unlike a ring, a solid bangle is a fixed diameter and cannot be made larger or smaller afterwards. That is why the sizing section above matters. Measure before you order, or send us the measurement and we will check it for you.
Do you make 18ct gold bangles?
Yes, made to order. Expect roughly double the 9ct price, because there is roughly double the gold in it. For a bangle we usually recommend 9ct, since the harder alloy stands up better to daily knocks.
Yellow, white or rose gold?
All three, at the same price, in every width. White gold is rhodium plated and will need re-plating every few years to keep its brightness. Yellow and rose need no maintenance beyond an occasional polish.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Initials, a date, or a short message on the inside of the bangle. Tell us what you want engraved when you order and we will confirm what will fit on the width you have chosen.
What is the difference between a bangle and a bracelet?
A bangle is rigid and passes over the hand as one piece. A bracelet is flexible, usually a chain, and fastens with a clasp. If you would prefer something that moves on the wrist, see our gold bracelets.
